Spokes Sunday rides resumes on Sunday 2nd May

Sunday 2nd May: Cwmcarn

Start/Distance: Taffs Well train station @ 10am, 40/48miles

Route/GPX download: Option 1. Moderate ride - Trail to Caerphilly, and lanes to Bedwas, Pandy Lane, 

Sirrhowy Trail to Cross Keys and Risca, returning

via Pye Corner and Penylan Hill. 40 miles approx.

Option 2. Strenuous ride -  as above with the addition at Cross Keys of a circuit of the Cwmcarn Forest ride - 

approx 8 miles with heavy climbing of + 10% gradients.

Terrain/Ride Category: Main ride moderate in difficulty suitable for all bikes. According to numbers and weather, a strenuous extension ride will be added suitable for all bikes

Anyone wishing to go on either of these rides must email the ride coordinator Dave Griffiths indicating their preference for either ride before Friday 30th April. According to the numbers signed up either one or two rides will be organised.

Sunday 9th May: LLantwit Major

Start/Distance: 10am on Llandaff North Bridge. About 35 miles

Sunday 16th May: Llanharan - Llanharry

Start/Distance: Meet 10.00 Taffs Well railway station. 35 - 40 miles

Route/GPX download: Tonteg, Tonyrefail, Brynna Llanharan, Llanharry, Ysradowen, Llandaf. Mainly on roads but rough track in 2 places, suitable for all bikes with suitable tyres. The Cafe stop will be in Llanharry, if open, but  bring food etc just in case.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 guidelines

Please follow local government guidelines until further notice

When we can ride as a group we need to have rules to keep us and the public safe:

1) Ride Leader to take a list of all cyclists on a club ride.
2) Social distancing to be observed at all times.
3) Take care when at coffee stops to socially distance from members of the public.
4)Members to be encouraged to take their own food on the ride.
5) All members should take their own hand sanitiser on the ride.

Cafe stops will be optional for the foreseeable future, dependant of group sizes and on how busy the cafe is at the time....So bring a drink and sandwiches and prepare for a possible roadside picnic.

How do I join Spokes: 1)Turn up at any of our Sunday Rides for a few ‘taster sessions’. You don’t need to be a fully signed up member of Spokes and/or Cycling UK before you ‘try us out’. NB.To take part in our weekend, week and venture rides you will need to join the club. 

2)To become a member of Spokes; firstly sign up to ‘Cycling UK’. On receipt of your Cycling UK membership number, Click Join to complete the Spokes on-line membership form to start enjoying the full benefits of club membership. NB.
