Sunday 3rd July: Gower Ride

Start/Distance: Due to Mumbles and Oystermouth Road Closures in Swansea for the Air Show, Sunday's ride will now be starting from the car park we used last year in Gowerton. To get to Gowerton leave M4 at Junction 47 and follow signs for Gower and Gowerton. As you enter Gowerton you will pass the Ruby Club and go under the Railway Bridge and arrive at a junction with traffic lights.  Turn left onto the B4295 (Gorwydd Road) and the 1st left is the car park.  If you get to the Commercial Hotel, you have gone too far. See you at 10.00 on Sunday. Any problems let me know - 07932 121221, 35 miles approx, 5 hours. Route/GPX download: Mumbles - Bishopstone - Kittle - Southgate - Park Mill - Parc Le Breos - Oldwalls - Cheriton  - Llanrhidian - Crofty - Penclawdd - Gowerton - Black Pill carpark

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate with some steep climbs and descents. 1 mile section of track that is not suitable for posh road bikes.  I would recommend a tourer or gravel bike.

July 9-10th: Tredfest 

Based on Redfest but to be held inthe village of Tredunnock

Saturday: 4 castles route. 60 mile route starting at Tredunnock at 9.30 am, meeting members choosing 40-mile route starting from Raglan at 10.30, where there is free parking at Chepstow Road, Raglan past the church.

Sunday: 40 miles with a coffee stop in Monmouth and lunch in Redbrook at the Boat Inn, who serve generous baguettes. Starting time 10.00am from Tredunnock

July 15th-17th: Porlock Weekender

Sunday 17th July:  Tongwynlais to Merthyr Tydfil return

Start/Distance: 1000 hrs Lewis Arms, Tongwynlais. 49 miles.  6 hours

Route/GPX download: Ton - Pontypridd - Quakers Yard (Taff trail) - Edwardsville - Merthyr Vale -  Troedyrhiw - Cyfartha castle ( via Trevithic trail ).  Lunch at castle. Return:  Merthyr Tydfil. ( Taff trail ) to Quakers Yard - Nelson  - Ystrad Mynach - Bedwas - Caerphilly -Nantgarw - Tongwynlais

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate Trails and tarmac . Bulk of Trevithic trail tarmac. Short stretch on gravel. 

2600 ft climbing.

Sunday 24th July: Machen Loop

Start/Distance: 10:00 from Pedal Power, Pontcanna Fields, 35 miles, Approximately 5 hours

Route/GPX download: GPX Link Taff Trail to Caerphilly, Bedwas, Machen (coffee stop), Rudry, Caerphilly, Cardiff.  On trails and tarmac, with some hills.

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate Suitable for most bikes, but not skinny tyres.

SATURDAY 30th July: Elan Valley

Start/Distance: Elan Valley visitor centre at 10.00am, 52 miles, Free parking is available, just before the visitor center, turn left over a bridge and there is plenty of free parking at the side of a river

Route/GPX download: Head out from visitor center, follow the road going past all the dams, with good views. Then follow a valley to the Devils Bridge for lunch, after lunch we go to Llangurig and then to Rhayader via a quiet back road. I am starting this ride on Saturday, as I intend camping on the Saturday night, returning Sunday Anyone wishing to camp, the campsite is Elan Valley Camping, just up the road from the Visitor center. If anyone is interested in camping I would advise booking early, as it is a popular site.

Sunday 7th August: Rhigos loop

Start/Distance: Lewis arms, Tongwynlais. 10am, 45 miles, 5hrs.

Route/GPX download: Abercynon, Coffee in  Aberdare, over the Rhigos Mountain and home down the Rhondda Valley

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate, Road Riding any bike will do.

Sunday 14th August: Caerleon Loop

Start/Distance: Caerleon amphitheatre car park 10.00am. 35 miles

Route/GPX download: Cycle to Llanhennock, Llantrisant and up Wentwood ( one long climb of the day ) through to Earlswood, and lunch in Shirenewton.(We have to order lunch in advance before we start the ride , but details will follow) From Shirenewton via Mounton to Dewstow and flats to Redwick and The Rose Inn for refreshments if needed 😊 Back to Caerleon via Bishton and Llanwern.

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate ride, apart from one Wentwood climb before lunch.

Sunday 21th August: Marvellous Monmouthshire and beyond

Start/Distance: 10am Llanfoist Crossing Car Park Llanfoist, Gwent, 9LP, Merthyr Rd, Abergavenny 

If the car park(MAP link) is full, there are some nearby streets where you can park. Approx. 35 miles.

Route/GPX download: GPX link Llanfoist, Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal, Pontypool,  Blaenavon, Clydach Gorge and back to Llanfoist

Terrain/Ride Category: Moderate Mixed terrain best suited to hybrids, gravel bikes or tourers, especially along the canal.
